Prospera Perintal CBT Certification

Prospera’s mission is to remove barriers to high-quality mental health support for moms. A cornerstone of that mission is our Perinatal CBT Certification, which equips professionals with the skills to deliver evidence-based emotional support for mothers facing anxiety, depression, anger, intrusive thoughts, stress, birth trauma, and more.

 

This intensive certification program prepares participants to use proven strategies drawn from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Motivational Interviewing—combined with specialized training in perinatal mental health.

 

Graduates of the program will be considered for a role as a mental health coach at Prospera, though the certification itself is designed to stand on its own as rigorous training in maternal mental health care.

 

Program Overview

The Perinatal CBT Certification is a 20-hour training program that combines online video instruction, outside reading, and structured role plays with written and oral proficiency exams. The curriculum focuses on three key areas: cognitive and behavioral techniques, relationship and empathy building, and specialized training in perinatal mental health. This blend of evidence-based content and applied practice ensures that participants not only learn the skills but also demonstrate the ability to use them effectively.

 

Prospera Certification Program Requisites

  • BA or BS in psychology or related field
  • Experience with coaching, crisis line or peer support, therapy, assessment, patient care, and/or caregiving
  • Completed coursework in clinical psychology
  • Basic understanding of cognitive behavioral therapy principles either from coursework, research, or hands on experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to learn independently
  • Strong interest in mental health and the perinatal period
  • Quiet, private space with reliable internet
  • Access to a computer with a camera and microphone
